Okay...sorry for the noobe question. I just hooked up my AT 4073a and ran a few audio tests. The mic level was set to center position. I placed the mic a foot above and at a 45 degree angle, pointing down at my mouth:
Whispering sounded clear
normal voice sounded okay
loud voice was a bit distorted.
Is is normal to have to set these dials to a lower setting? or should I control the level more by placing the mic further away from source?
