Audio clips of child wheezing/coughing?!

Hi

This is a long shot but I guess this is as good a place to ask as any!

I'm working on my first (totally unfunded) feature length drama at the weekends. For several scenes I have to have an actress responding nervously to the sound of a young child/toddler coughing and/or wheezing (offscreen) inside an old manor.

If anyone can help with a couple of audio clips over the coming months I'd be very grateful to hear from you!

Thank you.

Have you tried places like Sound Snap or Sound Dogs? Lots of inexpensive and/or free SFX out there. Also, Pond5 has quite a few.

I buy usually a month subscription to AudioSparx when I need sounds :) Some are crap, but there are gems in there! :)

My kids (I have 4 boys) all passed around a pretty nasty cold 2 weeks ago. I could have recorded some stuff for you. That's a pretty specific sound. You might have some luck on the sites already recommended. I also like freesound.org. I haven't seen anything like what you need on there, but then again, I've never looked for it. I know in the general sound effects libraries I have, I don't think I have a sound like that. If you don't have any luck with the sites listed, or if someone doesn't happen to have it and offer it up to you, you may have to find a way to record it.

Would the procedure here be to place an ad looking for sick kids, or would it be easier to start with a healthy child, infect them yourself and wait a couple of weeks for the bug to reach full flower? :-)

Closely related to the classic "how do they shoot Band-Aid commercials?" question!

You can probably have a kid fake it. I was thinking of having a kid eat some pudding, and then faking a cough. It's been done.

I will try out the pudding idea if necessary! Now back to my Dorset apple and blueberry cake with whipped cream - whilst searching those sites you suggested.

Thank you, I love the DVXUser forums!
