GH4 Audio capture to Pana GH4 vs Zoom H4n via Sennheiser EV-100

Hi

I acquired the Sennheiser EV-100 wireless audio setup, a couple years old but in great shape. I can capture to my GH4 which would put vid and audio in one convenient place, or I could capture to my Zoom H4n.

Which would give superior audio and why, or would they capture the same quality, high- and low-end?

They both can be very good, it all depends on how well you know your gear. Here's a video I shot 5 years ago where I have audio from a Sennheiser G2 UHF wireless mic going directly into my Panasonic GH2 camera with no headphone jack. ( The GH2 had no way to monitor audio, but I had used this set-up so many times that I got pretty good with it. It's a stupid move, but this was a quickie low-budget job. )

Thanks for the reply, that's certainly good quality audio. I was just worried that the lows might be less full on the camera, but this sounds great. Lovely little interview, too.
thanks again!

SLightly off topic question: I'm new to using the Senn EV-100. It uses 9v batteries.

When the charge light starts blinking, how much life i s left in those batteries?

Are they about to crap out or is there still a fair amount of juice left?

I think it will depend on your needs. I would consider my own work at the bottom of the "professional" barrel, mostly corporate and event work. So my needs for quality won't be the same as someone doing broadcast or theatrical work.

I find the convenience of marrying sound and picture to be of greater value than the quality improvement the Zoom offers.

Still, I do sometimes find myself using both. Put the mic into the Zoom, and use it's mini output into the camera. This gives you both convenience and quality, and allows you to decide during post which you'd rather use, rather than locking in that decision during production.
