Audio Advice

I need some advice. After reading this forum for a couple of weeks I decided to get Oktava for indoor work and Rode NTG-2 for outdoor work. Does that sound good? Also, I have no clue what else to get. Some people have been saying to get a boom pole. Which one??? A shock mount? Basically, I have no clue about what audio equipment is good or bad, but I just need to get some equipment to be able to shoot in any conditions.

I just shot a short film with the following shock mount, pole, and microphone.

AKG CK93 blueline mic
Gitzo Carbon Fiber Boom 12' Pole (270 dollar one)
PSC Universal Shock Mount

Im not sure how the PSC mount would perform with the Oktava, but with the AKG, there was NO handling noise.. and we moved the mic quite a bit-and our boom operator was not a professional. So I have to believe it would be just as effective even with a mic more sensitive to handling noise such as the Oktava. I have used other shock mounts where every little movement is heard, and this is the first shock mount i have found that I like. Its very inexpensive and did the job great. There are more expensive shock mounts, but i cant see spending more if this little PSC does such a great job. It was not expensive at all...

I second the $270 gitzo carbon fiber pole.

For the oktava I suggest
k-tek kssm shockmount ( it is a bit more than the PSC, but I would say it is worth it.
Rycote BBG (20mm)
furry jammer for bbg
plastic ball hair ties to secure cables to the pole.

For the shotgun (the at 4073a may be a good choice if you can spend a bit more)
K-tek k-zepp (check sizing for your shotgun)
good starquad cable (remote audio or other good stuff... Not cheap guitar center cables)
Sony 7506 headphones
sound devices mixpre or sd302

Wireless
sennheiser ew100 g2 systems
countryman emw wired for g2 ( to replace stock g2 lavs)

Nice list. I might substitute the Audix scx-1 for the Oktava
and Audio Technica ATH-M50 headphones for the Sony.

Just newer, better sounding gear.
