Audio 2040 range problems

hi!

last week i was using a borrowed pair of Audio 2040s, and couldn't get more than about 5 feet of range from them at any time. i tried dialing in many many different combinations of frequencies, but to no avail. meanwhile, my battered old 2020s were rock solid as usual. luckily, i only needed 4 personals for one setup, so i ended up ditching the 2040s. has anyone else experienced this, or was i just unlucky? (the 2040s were practically brand new)

This surprises me greatly as the Audio Ltd. systems seem to have about the best range in the business.

You either have faulty units or possibly broken antennas.

The other possibility is that you were on illegal frequencies and being swamped by a powerful transmitter (eg: TV transmitter).

But I think the former is most likely.

Hey dougie!

is it possible the 2040's are more prone to RF interference? as you know, my microns have shocking range when used near my 744t, but 2020's operate fine next to the 744.

Chris.

Something's not right. I got 1000 feet with one about six months ago. Frequency is crucial. I was initially getting about 25 feet range, then I clicked the frequency up one click and BAM 1000 feet.

hi guys,

very interested in you post there. have a pair of 2040's and i'd love to get 1000ft range out of them.

been using the rk3 this week and was having terrible trouble. i'm on the 833-866 range here in ireland.

audio tell me they have optomized frequencies 1-12 to work together but they were a disaster together.

what frequency gave you that range?

Hi,

This was several years ago while they were here for review. You might contact VArk Audio in Cabin John Maryland and ask them. They were the retailers who loaned me the set.

I was pretty amazed. No other wireless I've tested here has had that range.

Ty Ford

If you have a problem give Kish a ring at Audio Ltd. in High Wycombe.

They are the manufacturers and Kish knows them inside out.

And they are a very helpful company.

The 854-862MHz band is being withdrawn in the UK in 2012 - if you are using a properly licensed set, the Government will give you compensation to move the frequencies ofer to the new Ch.38 ones (which you can licence now).

So - talk to Kish.
