Audible pulsing electronic humm. Is this normal?

When doing more tests with our new 100b we noticed that in a quite room and all else silent we could hear a low but audible pulsing humming noise coming from the 100b. It even seemed to stop for a bit and then it was back. I could even hear it through my headphones picked up by the lav. Don't recall it being there during other tests. Is this normal? Should I report this to panavision.

Yes, you better call panavision immediately. This could be something serious. May even require service. You could hear it in the headphones too?

Have you tried sticking awet noodle inside the headphone jack? Apparently that clears up all hums that playback in headphones.

Hey, I was searching the forums for this exact issue. Its the servo motor for the automatic focusing that is making the noise. My DVX100b is only 1 day old and I noticed that noise. Any info from Panasonic?

Also, I have an important question for you. Does your DVX100b also make a sound like the mirror or a plate in the camera body slides/opens closes if you tip the camera forward and backward (tip the lens down, then back up) Mine goes away when I turn the camera on.

That clunky noise is normal because the OIS is disengaged with the power off.
