ATTN: 35mm adapter builders- question regarding extension tubes

I've been working on a vibrating 35mm adapter that will utilize a small project box and some of the cheap nikon macro extension tubes on ebay.
I already have all the parts I need, or so I thought... when I got the extension tubes I went to thread on the necessary step rings to adapt it to my DVX and no luck.
I've tried 55mm and 58mm rings; one is too small, the other is too big. Which would then leave it to be either 56 or 57mm, but I don't know if I've ever dealt with anything in those sizes.
After searching ebay and B&H I've come up with nothing in those sizes...

Has anyone else run into this problem before?

I've sent messages to numerous sellers on ebay to find out what the thread sizes are before I order anything else, but no one has replied yet.

You need to get a step up ring for your DVX. It is 72mm. So if you have a 55mm, then you need to get a 55mm to 72mm apadpter ring. It is available at your local photo shop. Or do a google. Hope this helps

i guess i should have clarified a little better. i have already stepped it down from 72mm to 58mm AND 55mm and neither seem to fit the extension tubes.... which has me puzzled. i thought for sure they were 55mm.

because the extension tubes you buy, were probably from hong kong or whatever and they have their own thread size. check daniels' website and he has the piece you need that he custom made

Yeah, I tried to see if the extension tube I got could be threated to anything at all, but it's a unique measurement to itself, and doesn't go with any standard photographic thread size (i.e. 49mm, 52mm, 55mm, 58mm, etc). In my design I resorted to fitting into a PVC joing (which worked out pretty well, fit snugly.

The extension tubes have the rare diameter of a 60mm thread. Look Daniels offer of 55mm to 60mm step up rings.

I believe the adapter ring that Daniel makes is for the Canon extension tubes, what I have is for Nikon and it's either a 56 or 57mm thread.

I did find one seller on ebay who claims that the extension tubes they're selling are 55mm. So for 12 bucks I'm going to try that, see what I come up with, and go from there.

Thanks fellas.
