Attaching the Zacuto EVF to the AF100

The Zacuto EVF comes with a standard HDMI to mini HDMI cable. What cables or adapters do you use?

What is your experience with this EVF on the AF100?

I just received my EVF Snap today. I feel like I've been shooting for two months with a belt around my chest and now I can finally breathe. It's 100 times better than either the stock EVF or the LCD for focusing, and does not add so much weight so as to inhibit hand holding. I like the minimalist peaking options, the menu layout is great, Zebras are MUCH better than the stock LCD, and the thing just works right out of the box. I'm going to try and rig up some way of attaching it tomorrow.

Thanks.

I got a 3' cable (did not get shorter one here in a small town. Reliable focussing in lower light is nearly impossible with the built-in EVF and I think the Zacuto EVF may solve it.

Please share some pictures.

I've been using these 18" HDMI cables.

And a 5" Noga Arm, with a pair of Cine Locks, to hang the EVF upside-down from the AF100's top handle.

Illya, of Hot Rod Cameras, is working on a swivel mount for the F3, & hope he produces an AF100 version too. He's been working on of the design for 6 months, or more, & I'm sure it will be great.

I'm mostly a GH13 shooter, but have been using a mate's AF100 for its overcrank 60p for a music video shoot. Last night we did the first low light hand-held stuff - the early shoots were all tripod in studio. I gave up on the Cineroid (great though the thing itself may be) and its shitty little mini-HDMI cable and just went with the built-in EVF in b/w with red peaking. I was very impressed with its focus accuracy. Just saying...

>Zacutos EVF makes it easier to focus than the on camera EVF.

Editman do you use one?

Anybody using a 1/4" to hot shoe adapter to mount it on the back handle mounting hole?

How do you setup your Zebras?

Thanks for the complement.

In answer to your question, the EVF mount will work with most every camera, including the AF100.

I know that will probably beg more questions, but I'm going to have to leave it there for now :-)

Too bad Zacuto doesn't include a proper HDMI to HDMI cable for AF100 and F3 users. I bought the new ultra thin cables which are nice and flexible, but the EVF doesn't work on it for some reason. I think 3 feet is the best length to get.Update: user error. The Monster ultra slim cable does in fact work. I didn't realize they are directional.
