Attachable viewfinder for the LCD of the AF 101?

:) ..

My camera at the moment is a xl-h1 powered by an AB battery and a Nanoflash..
When i ordered the AF 101 i looked at their presentation model very closely and I know how to fix the Nanoflash and AB battery to the Af 101...

For my rig to be usable unfortunately the Af 101 VF is going to be blocked..
and buying such attachable VF for the LCD would seem as a cost effective way..

although I am not sure how the buttons are going to be comprimised and so on....

what do you think ?

I think you should change your design; there are many mounting options for rods that do not block access to camera functions.

Good shooting and best regards,

Leo

Use the LCD with a hoodloupe with EX1 kit like this:

Or something similar. Also an angled wing with a base plate shouldn't block access to the back of the camera.

thanx very much for the help..

@Ticheli... you are definitly making a point here but to be completely honest.. I dont want to use the rear Viewfinder.. Its not how i am used to shoot.. coming from the Xl-H1 i want something with a similar form factor..
and you will probably say i should then choose a camera which complies with my wishes.. but i like the Af 101.. and it will suit my purposes perfect... In the end i will definitly adapt the normal LCD with something from Glidetrack, Zacuto or whatever..
its just a question of what to get.. sadly my Af 101 will not arrive before the end of January.. but wanted to check everything before then...

@Duke... I like your suggestion...

If you want to attach a loupe to the AF100's LCD, the LCD dimensions are:

(physical plastic of the housing)
4" wide x 2.5" tall

(inset glass covering LCD)
3.25" wide x 2" tall

(actual viewable area)
3" wide x 1.6875" tall

The buttons you would potentially be blocking are the color bars, zebra, ois, evf dtl, waveform monitor, timecode counter and reset, and the audio channel select and phantom power controls. The lcd panel could, however, rotate out of the way allowing access to all those.

However, looking at it, I think you'll find that the depth of something like the LCDVF or Zacuto will probably end up about as far back as the on-camera EVF. I recommend just trying it out first, before deciding that you need additional accessories.

thank you very much!!!.. thats exactly the info i needed...

i probably wont need those buttons anyway ;) :)

I really have to rethink/design a couple of things..... I guess..

cheers,

phil
