Atomos Sumo SE

But it seems crazy that we can't just add a studio recorder 3g/HDMI cable and monitor fullscreen, (in resolve or any other 3rd party apps or something built into the MBP). If this has been a thing all this time I'll be embarrassed.

I may be misunderstanding but I thought the question was whether you could go fullscreen using just a single screen, i.e. the Macbook Pro running Resolve. You can definitely work with Resolve Live using a secondary monitor displaying fullscreen, as that is what I was doing on the Eilish gig, using an Ultrastudio as my interface to the second monitor.

The atomos grab handle seemed too tall so I was experimenting with my own handle, then I quickly added a side handle.

- low profile
- possibly available depending on small parts lying around
- 8x NATO rail options if ever needed, 15mm rod clamp if ever needed

I'm deciding on the case to buy, which fast tracked the need to figure out exactly how big the footprint will be. I always thought the thumbless monitor grab was never ideal.

New addition to the sumo, the Rigidesigns Para Mount. The mount feels great. Instead of the same brand's side plate for batteries, I added my own with pieces I had. I plan to do the same to the other side, as well as a mount for the wireless receiver.

I own the Rigidesigns Para Mount as well Rob, it's been super solid for me.

I have mine connected to Inovativ's QR Monitor Mount system. Sometimes I'll swap a larger computer monitor from my desk setup to a cart when doing stills and needing on set client review.

Thanks for the link Dustin, and nice set up!

I like the look of that gator monitor case. After buying many storm cases in the line up, at some point I went all soft padded cases. If I was working on TVC/narrative projects, I'd likely have 100% hard cases, but IMO for corporate, I much prefer a no pelican cases approach. Anyway, I looked at your gator case for a long time, and still might go that way, but have a storm im2700 for the sumo and feel really good about it (despite my previous sentences). Specifically, the monitor screen itself is next to no chance of being impacted vs. walls of a case might push in more. But I'm sure yours has served you well.

Thanks Rob! Yeah the gator monitor case is really only for when I'm using the larger computer monitor and doing stills only, as opposed to shooting video and needing more of a production monitor.

When I'm shooting video and I need a client monitor I'll use the OSEE 21.5 inch field monitor in a Pelican 1600. Pretty much everything for when I'm doing video work goes to and from set in Pelican cases, like you mentioned.

The Gator case has its benefits in the light weight and some pretty decent padding but it definitely wouldn't survive a big drop or other equipment falling on it. It's more of a padded screen protector for transport.
