Atomos states Shogun is shipping

Don't know what firmware the GH4 was running in the demo video but the HDMI lag was (still) bad.

And the Shogun's HDMI-out seems to add it's own lag.

I measured the GH4's HDMI out lag at about 5 frames when running 24p.

What is the Odyssey 7Q+'s lag going to be in the same situation? Thanks, Mitch!

Like many here, I have a Shogun on pre-order but am also interested in the Odyssey 7Q+.

Except for the fact that 1TB of media is frikkin $1399, vs under $400 on the Shogun, of course.

So yes, I am researching what the advantages of the the Odyssey 7Q+ are to compensate for that. Hopefully lack of HDMI lag is one of them?

I want to see some a7s internal-1080p vs external-1080p vs external-4K tests, looking at both resolution (is 4K from the a7s as utterly awesome as that from the GH4?) and dynamic range (any chance shadows are cleaner?).

Pretty please :)

I understood from Mitch's response the GH4 has a lag of 5 frames. This is camera dependant. For example on Sony FS700 the lag is 3-4 frames via SDI out and 5-6 frames via HDMI out. Odyssey in itself does not produce any extra lag.

Just announcing this:

Our engineers have determined that the Odyssey7Q+ HDMI input will in fact fully support 10-bit video in all accepted resolutions. The support for this functionality will be included in the units shipping in the next few days. The camera needs to send it out such a signal of course. Cameras capable of sending 4K 10-bit video over HDMI include the Panasonic GH4 and the Sony FS7.

There's a self-proclaimed "fun comparison" here: http://wolfcrow.com/blog/fun-comparison-atomos-shogun-vs-the-convergent-design-odyssey-7q/

I've submitted a few technical corrections for clarity, but it gives a good sense of things in general. There are also a few features in the new firmware we have not yet shared, but you'll know all about them in a few days.
