Atomos Shogun / FS700 update

here's quick shot when i put shogun on top of my FS700. (using magic arm is just temporary, i needed to check where and which angle gonna be good for my handheld style.)

yes, with current firmware we don't get good enough benefit like Odyssey7Q (and 7Q+) for FS700. Shogun is not raw recorder, yet. however this 1080P monitor makes my life much easier, i've actually used few other 720P monitor includes 7Q and i was kinda doubt about how big the difference between 720P and 1080P...and yes it's different, big time.

anyway Shogun is more friendly with small camera like GH4, A7S, and upcoming whatever UHD ready small gangs next year. UHD shooting with 1080P monitor, it's gonna be kinda default combo in few years i think.

So is it only recording the 8-bit SDI out into ProRes right now?

I'm interested in seeing the screen in person. I think the 7Q screen is amazing, even for basically a 720p viewing area. I imagine the Shogun is very sharp. Not OLED, though.

I have to say, though, for FS700 usage I think the 7Q kicks the Shogun to the curb. Can't beat RAW to 4K ProRes, 1080p ProRes, 240fps RAW, 120fps 4K Burst...

yes, as the best partner for the FS700's 4K2Kraw solution, 7Q is the only one gear available in the market. no one can beat her, period.

to be honest i'm the owner of the Sony R5 for my FS700 and F55 4Kraw shooting so Shogun is more "monitor" to me, however this 1080P resolution with amazing pixel zoom function, "swiping the screen like iPhone" kinda function for checking the focus, i can't go back any other monitor after i play with Shogun. it's ultra helpful for my shooting style.

i connect Shogun via HDMI for monitoring, and SDI goes to R5, then i'm happy. :)
