atomos samurai green frames

I have seen other threads in the past, but the seem to have died down lately. I just shot all day with the samurai and all the files are junk. I have the most recent firmware on the samurai (3.21). all my files are glitching and have a green frame in them from time to time. luckily its all backed up to SxS but bummed I can't utilize the 10bit now. I had it set to 1.5g 422 slog (if its set to 3g the samurai doesn't see the camera) and it was hooked up to the A port. I have always used this configuration with no problems. Did I miss something?

edit--

I should add it plays totally fine on the samurai. and that the drive is the intel 520 which is on the supported list.

Did you replace your adapator cable with the new ones? Try other BNC cables? I had green frames that turned out to be a cable issue. They replaced the adapter cables because of cable issues.

Did you upload the latest firmware? They did one specific update for this issue.

For what ever reason, even though solid state is supposed to be better and faster, I've always had more problems with my Intel solid state drive. My HDD has always been flawless once my cable issue was fixed. I'm trying to remember which HDD I have. Scorpio but I don't recall if it was blue or black.

Your files are ok. Just use a different computer till they show up fine. This has happened to me twice. Switching computers works. Don't know why...

+1

The good news is that if there are no green frames on the Samurai its unlikely to be a file issue. Now you just need to try various cables, computers, video cards to see what is glitching the signal.

thanks everyone. it looks like it was the external hard drive I had dumped the video too. I picked up a different one and everything is right in the world again.

cheers!

Great to hear. When I first got my Samurai 8 months ago, the bad cables they sent would reek havoc on my footage, intermittent green or grey frames, half frames, etc. After I replaced them and upgraded the firmware I've never had a single glitch in the 7 months since. Using a 500gb WD black scorpio drive and a OWC SSD.
