Atlas Camera Support System/SmallHD

Hi Guys,

Anyone have any experience or ideas on how to mount a SmallHD monitor to an HMC-150 and have it remain balanced and usable on an Atlas Camera Support System? This is a little backpack with a flexible pole coming out the top that you clip the camera onto for support and some stabilization:

There is an article about it in the Sept 2009 VideoMaker.

I am thinking I need some kind of tray/crossbar mounted on the top of the camera in the "hotshoe" mount (perpendicular to the handle) with the monitor on the left and a balancing weight on the right. I'd like to use the shade adapter from SmallHD too.

Anyone ever do anything like this? Any chance I can buy some adapters off-the-shelf?

Thank you,
Dean

Hi Matt,

Thanks, looked at those. But I believe what will happen is the camera will want to roll over to the left (be severly unblanaced) due to the weight of the monitor of the left side. If they made one which allowed you to lock it down on the hotshoe, than had left and right arms (so I could add balance weights on the right arm) think it would work. Since the camera is suspended by a single cable and sorta hangs in space, I think it will be critical to balance the entire camera left to right too. I get the Atlas setup this week, and I'll be experimenting with it.
