AT835b as ON camera mic??.

Anyone out there ever used an AT835b as an ON camera mic?
Some one advised me not to but I don't know why.
Is it too long? If it is, can't a person just slide it back in the clamp so it doesn't enter the frame?

Re: AT835b as ON camera mic??.

i JUST did this yesterday. I needed to film in a taxi cab while it was moving/pulling away, so I thought I would try it. Unfortunately I wasnt planning on doing that until the moment and the only XLR cable I had was 50'. So THAT was interesting!

Anyhow I watched the footage yesterday on a 32" TV and it wasnt in the shot at all (I shot at 16x9 squeeze, no ana adapter). I have no special Matte box or anything, just the plastic one that comes with the camera. I moved the mic as far back on the mic holder as I could.

So long story short, you should have no problems at all.

Just to second that, I used mine over the weekend with no issues. It's alot longer than the ME66, but as long as it stays outta frame its the perfect mic for me.
