Sorry I never followed up till now. The deal ended up being a sort of compromise...long story. I still got it for a deal but not for the price we were talking about.
Anyway...I am selling the mic if anyone is interested. I've posted it on the Marketplace section but haven't had any bites. I tried to make a few bucks and still sell it below market cost and no takers. So now I'm looking to see what you guys (or anyone else) would take it for. It is still New in Box--haven't even used it but realize that the at4073 is really what I need.
So give me a shout if interested and we can talk. Thanks,
Matt
Dude really you need to either tell the long story or else be up front with everybody. To make a profit on the mic is reasonable and to get the highest price you can for it is reasonable... as a buyer getting one without a long story for not that much more money is also reasonable. If I were going to buy the mic I'd either want to know the long story or I'd rather buy from a dealer I could make a return with... w/o any explanations... or option C would be I don't care about the long story so long as the price is too good to pass up.
Earlier in this thread that was the whole logic of the purchase. A deal too good to pass up. Set a price for a reasonable profit and explain the details and the mic should sell quickly.
Or if you don't like that option there are probably a thousand people out there who would love to get that mic... so... you know the place. I've offered so many great deals on forums and 9 times out of 10, if nobody buys it and I pop it on ebay... I get more cash out of it anyway!
Matt, I don't really think it's all that big of a deal. If they read the thread they know exactly where it came from. If they bought it from me and then believed it wasn't as described then I would give them a refund--though I don't anticipate that. The quality and newness of the mic has nothing to do with the "long story"--rather a misprinted price, then a song and dance and finally a compromise.
I came back to this thread because your message on Nov 1 asked what happened? I also figured I'd hold it and sell it here because there are people sooner or later who will want it--and they will get a good price for it from me.
If you really want details on why I want to sell it...it's because I got a good deal on it (though not the price we discussed earlier) and because I now realize that the at4073a is really what I need. I just got my camera a month ago and haven't even plugged the mic in because I'm trying to learn how to use the camera. I ask for reasonable offers because I trust a lot of the people on this site to send them if they're interested. If you're in dire need of a price, then let's say $600, but that doesn't stop me from hearing offers.
