Assistance with some Odyssey 7Q Questions?

Hey Guys,

A few quick questions from some 7Q owners out there. I just purchased one for my FS700 and would love some advice on a few things?

- Any recommendations on the hd-sdi cable? Are some bette than others? Good places to buy?
- i have a movcam top handle on my fs, any recommendations on arms that work great for that to rig the 7q?
- Does Odyssey make a dedicated sunshade for the 7q?
- Lastly, what is your post process? Best way to offload clips from the SSD?

Appreciate any help in advance, thanks!

- Any 3G rated cable will do. I like our own cables because they are ultra thin & flexible so stay out of your way.
- Lots of different opinions out there on how to mount the Odyssey. Where do you want the monitor to live? Up top? On the side like a viewfinder? Tell how you plan to use it for best suggestions.
- Convergent Design makes a sunshade that will be available in May. Hoodman and Westside AV have shades available now.
- I'll let others answer this last one, but you have to note what type of files you'll be shooting (RAW?, ProRes?) and if you are Mac or PC based.

I just went through asking the same things and here's what i went with.

Cinecoil 20" 3G SDI Cable - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...l_bnc2bnc_20_SDI_BNC_To_BNC.html/prm/alsVwDtl
They have a 10 inch version as well. , which might even be better if you're only using it to mount the 7Q on the camera.
It's not quite as springy as i thought it would be, but i like it.

A also bought a 25ft cable for when i want to mount the 7Q on a stand somewhere.

For offloading clips from the SSD, i got the Convergent Design USB 3.0 to SSD cable here: https://www.abelcine.com/store/Convergent-Design-USB3-to-SSD-SATA-Adapter/
There's no photo, but sure enough i got it and works. It's similar to something like this: http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-...1398709929&sr=1-6&keywords=usb+3+to+ssd+cable (except less expensive and from convergent design themselves)

I can't really comment on the rest. I've yet to get a sunshade. Waiting to see Convergent Design's own hood, which is in the works.
I know Westside AV and Hoodman both have something too.

Edit: i see Mitch posted above as i was typing my post!

I also have the Cinecoil 20" cable mentioned above and have a second one on order as a backup since I have been using the original one on a different monitor for the past year. No problems with it thus far.

I have the full Movcam Shoulder Kit and have 3 different monitor mounting kits on order that will all be here by Wednesday. I will post some pictures of the one I decide to keep as soon as they arrive.

I plan on ordering the Convergent Design Hood as soon as it's available in May.

Here is the SATA - USB 3.0 adapter that I purchased and use: http://www.amazon.com/Syba-Device-Adapter-Cable-SY-ADA20079/dp/B0057UAB2K

Just to note, you do not need to wait to place your order. Contact your CD dealer of choice and the hood will ship when it is available. We have many already preordered.
Ha Ha Ha, funny you should mention this. I placed the Convergent Design Hood on order earlier this morning at B&H Photo. I am hoping to have it as soon as possible.
