AspectHD for P2

Maybe this has been covered once or twice, but thought I should bring it up given the issue of current lagging PC support for P2 DVCProHD. Considering Cineform's recent releasing of their new version of AspectHD (which I don't have, but am strongly considering) with support for JVC's 720/24P and Canon's 24 F, even though these are HDV codecs, perhaps an update for support for the HVX200 will be coming soon? Hopefully, and that would certainly be a great, software-based option. From the last release, it seems like Cineform is pushing for 24 frame, affordable film-like native support. Hopefully they haven't or will not limit this to HDV. On the other hand, I really like their idea with AspectHD, especially with the Canon and JVC support-- anyone currently using it?

Also, for those lucky few who have the HVX, has anyone tried dumping the files to a DS Nitris via HD-SDI? Would that even work?

There's no point to converting P2 footage to intermediary codec like AspectHD for editing purposes. HDV needs it for sure... it's difficult to edit natively (that GOP thing).

The advantage of P2 is editing native footage without conversion (and recompression). That should happen pretty soon. I hope.

I was an early adoptee of the FX-1. It was several months later that someone developed an itermediate codec (I think it was aspectHD) and they wanted 600 smackers for it. I decided to sell the FX-1 a month later.... got tired of waiting.

If you're gonna spend time and resources writing intermediary codec for P2, you're better off writing a plugin that allows P2 native editing.

Hopefully we're gonna be editing in less than a month (speaking for us PC users).

Mah two cents.
