aspect ratio goes wacky??

HI - I'm about to cry here....

I'm using Final Cut Pro 4.5 HD and I am capturing footage shot on the DVX100A in 24p, 4:3. All of a sudden it seems that FCP thinks that everything it is capturing from tapes shot on the DVX is at 853 x 480 pixels. That is how the captured Quicktime files are displayed in Quicktime. In FCP they look fine, but I'm, worried because this has never been the case.

Thanks in advance for anyone who has any insight! I just can't seem to figure out what has happened here. I've captured thousands of hours of footage before no problem...
 
That's the square pixel aspect ratio for widescreen, yes? Or pretty close. Some setting somewhere, outputting for the web as WS?

Yes it is (pretty close) to widescreen.
