From what I heard, Gordon Willis was chosen when a decapitated horse's head was left in Robert Evans' bed. Deakins has the accent advantage... what, ya gonna say now to an English accent?

It's true, an English accent automatically makes you more intelligent.
When folks tell me about the blue sky at the end of the rainbow, this experience from a previous life comes to mind.
I owned a machine shop for quite a few years and did a lot of one off stuff. Seems like once a month, a mad inventor would rush my door with some idea. Invariably they would say "If you can do all this R&D for really cheap, when we go to production, you can really make a bundle". I would reply, "tell you what, you pay me my rate for the R&D and I'll give you a great price when we do go into production".
What I have learned is that if someone won't let me make a living at what I do (like pay me fair), then they are not my customer.
