I like this guy's sense of humor.
 
Oh man, I know the drill......."When we get money for the next one, we'll make it up to you", or, "When the record deal is final.....".

And don't laugh, I have had to buy a copy of a project I shot before. Don't worry, I made bootlegs and passed them out like candy.
 
Surely this is a joke. If not this guy is out of his mind and should be put away some place very safe from society.
 
We have a guitar store here in town that says on it's marquee- "Crappy products, poor service, and unhappy employees". Obviously they are the best place to go as they excel in all those areas.
 
So f*king cool. Especially the part where he says (for a $25 fee) ! Like the employee has to pay to get a copy and provide the film stock. Hilarious!

Of course it is! Someone super pissed at reading all the work-for-free ads that appear so they wrote their own but over the top.
 
So whats his number? Has the application date passed? Dammit!!! I always miss out on the good ones.

Now what am going to do with all this vision 3 stock laying around????
 
It is the Vistavision camera part which gives it away. This format became obsolete in 1956 after they filmed "The 10 Commandements" with it. It requires special projectors which no longer exist. Nobody would make anything with Vistavision today. So the ad is definitely a joke.

A group of people probably got together, joked about it, and one of them actually went out of his way to amuse the others by actually publishing it. I'm sure they had a good laugh.

The underlying theme of he ad however is to suggest FILM is totally obsolete. The ad specifically asks for a ASC DP. In a way, the ad makes fun of DP's who still work with FILM. Perhaps the the author is a DSLR or Adaptor user who wants to make fun of a friend who works with film.

The "pay 25" for your demo reel is certainly the topper.

I'm afraid you've got a couple years of on set experience on me, but I'm never one to back down from a challenge! Let me know if you ever need a camera operator (although I imagine you do a lot of your own cam opping).
 
I don't get what's so funny. Isn't this how Roger Deakins gets all of his work? And I heard thats how Gordon Wills got on Godfather.
