...for the new batch of Panasonic cameras to come out, it dawned on me that the AF100 is currently a REALLY GOOD DEAL. BH has it for $4500 with the $800 lens.....Assuming I could shlep the lens for $600 or so (I live in Canada), this would effectively lower the price of the body to Around $3900...I already have HMC150 battereis and SD cards soooo...

Is it just me, or is this a steal for a camera with this sensor? Some questions:

1. I will use it to intercut with a HMC150...has anyone done this and what settings did you use?
2. I have some Canon L glass (24-70 and 70-200)....I know about the aperture limitations, but other than that, what's your experience with Canon glass on this camera?
3. Is there a way to adjust aperture on Nikon lenses which do not have an aperture ring?

It seems to me that getting this camera and having the option of swapping out lenses just seems like a better deal than buying an AC160...

Your thoughts?

It also seems that the AF100 would be more future-proof due to the countless lens options....hmmmm...now if only it supported backup recording....

I have some nikon lenses and use them with the adaptimax and Im not able to move the aperture. Nobody in the forum seems to know about that. I guess I would recomend to stay away from the adaptimax.

I have both the HMC150 & AF100. The menus are so close you can match just about any settings and they cut together just fine.
Please see this quick post: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?235902-Af100-hmc150-gh2&p=2233997&viewfull=1#post2233997

I use Nikon manual lenses, but I'm sure the cannon glass is just beautiful too.

If your lens doesn't have an apature ring, just get an adapter that does, the Adaptimax Plus or Novoflex...along with others offer that feature.

Wish they had included the lens when I bought the camera.... sigh.

I've used it a few times with the HMC150, both shooting 1080 24p. Had the AF100 on the AbleCine "clean" look. Here are stills from a recent shoot for comparison:

So far I have only have the opportunity to use a Cannon tilt-shift lens with it, but was pleased with the results. Used a Fotodiox adapter for it. For Nikon lenses, I've found the Novoflex MFT/NIK adapter to be worth the $ because you can manually control the aperture.

I do have the Plus Adapter. But nobody seems to know how it operates or how it moves the aperture.

That's strange... the screw out the side should adjust the apature on the lens. What lens are you using again? Doesn't the thumbscrew on the adapter line-up with the apature adjustment tab in the lens?

I will try it again as soon as I get the chance tomorrow. Im using this type of lenses...

Is the Adaptimax plus the one to go for this type of lens?

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer.

Whoa, wait, what?

The lens you linked already HAS an aperture control ring - so no need to use the Adaptimax to move it. Or am I missing something? (...or did you link to the wrong lens?)

No, that IS the right lens. And I use it with the Adaptimax and when I move the ring, it does nothing on the camera. That is the reason I posted. It is as if the mere fact Im using adaptimax, makes the lens not function correctly.

I pulled the trigger on my purchase back in May, before the free lens offer. The price now with lens is around $1000 less than I paid with the 14-140 zoom. FWIW I just bought my first prime - 50mm f 1.4 nikon on ebay, and a novoflex adapter at B&H, and I'm blown away by how much better it looks than that zoom. I'll now have to start bidding on some more used primes as the F4 on the zoom is pretty awful for available light shooting indoors. I think it's a steal at the current pricing.

As of last night, they are now even including a Pearstone battery with the AF100, in addition to the lens.

Makes we wonder if an update to the camera is around the corner.
