Seriously. man, I can draw a portrait that looks like a photo but I can't make a freakin B with a pen.
Penmenship aside, man I just can't spell worth a dang. Today's revision was on an On Demand project
...which I spelled One Demand.
worse, I once tagged a spot 60 times that read "airs weakly"
My wife is the one who caught it as we watched tv in bed one night.
lol

Was that really a typo or was it commentary?

But seriously, one of the local shops here had shirts printed a few years ago for their post staff: "Editors: if we could spell, we'd be producers."

Then again, I have worked with producers who have terrible spelling and syntax.

lol
awesome shirt.
One of the post facilities here in stl makes good money by charging to fix their own mistakes. Works out good for em.
Naa that was in text. Even a spell check would not have caught that one.
which is kind of ironic... my free email account has had spell check for several years but Avid hasn't seen it fit to help a brother out yet. lol

I always feel like a moron when I see clips of those kids in spelling contests who can spell words I've never even heard of before. Those words may exist, but just don't seem to come up in everyday conversation.

ie. "I've been spending too much time near Mt. Readoubt since it erupted and I think I'm getting a case of Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis!"

Yes, that is an actual word. Look it up!

I'm finding I just have too much common sense for the english language. Freakin stick to a rule man. This whole i before e exept after c and the words Keith, weird and Budweiser is just stupid.
Heard? Beard? man make up yout weird english minds. I spell stuff how it sounds and simply like my system better.
lol

This is a pet peeve of mine, and I have been flamed on this very site for calling people out on this subject. What we do is all about communication. Correct spelling is a basic and vital facet of communication. With the technology we currently have available, there is really no excuse for more than the occasional spelling error.

1) It makes you look less than professional (no matter what people tell you). It gives a very strong impression that you do not pay attention to details. Something people in our line of work need to be good at.

2) Misspelled words often mean something very different than what you intend. (Grinner's weakly vs weekly is a prime example)

Like anything else you do well, it's about not being lazy. The more you pay attention to it, the easier it gets. Hiding behind the "artist" label is just (IMHO) and excuse.

End of rant. Flame away
