Article on H.265. Is it possible on the FS700?

I've heard of H.265, but this is the first time i've read much about it.

My first thought is that it would be great if that codec could simply be added via firmware to the Sony FS700! Just record the 4k image on to an SD card with H.265. Is it even possible in the future?

It would probably take a whole new processor, hence new cameras. If not, that would be amazing.

Not likely unless the FS700 has hidden horsepower. Sony is using XAVC H.264 4K for the F55; a business reason the FS700 won't get 4K internal.

As far as I know, H.265 takes 10 times longer to encode than H.264. This is also pretty logical as it takes much more calculation power to optimise the codec efficiëncy so the filesize can be very small. So no, don't expect this to come to the FS700.
