there is indeed a very very very very very very very very big difference between theatre actors (on stage) and filmactors

Theatre actors will act more exagerated, speak with a different voice, not used to repeat things 54054543504534 times, not used when a DOP says "stand there for the light", and
a soundguy says "try not to hit your plate with your fork during your lines.

Yeah.

Hence the bench scene and some other moments are a bit "too much". That's what they learn to do.

In case anyone is interested: There's a different cut of the film online which is almost 2 minutes shorter and snappier.
