The clearance sale continues with a nice used Arrilex MB 17 4x4 mattebox for 15mm rods (60mm spacing). This is a well used workhorse mattebox which is very compact and tough. It has some wear and evidence of a rigorous production life but it works well.

It has two 4x4 filter trays and both stages rotate (but not separately) The rear stage is a Tiffen series 9 retaining ring w/bellows which accepts series 9 round filters.

Asking price is 450.00. Its available for examination to serious buyers in the NYC area.

Thanks.

Sorry if this is a noob question, but I'm just getting into matteboxes and such. How does this mattebox fit snugly around the lens? For example, the RRMB has those foam donuts and such~

The series 9 ring can be threaded to the camera lens, filter or step up/down ring. It has rubber bellows that compensate for any forward backward movement of the lens while focusing/zooming.

Worst case, a small drape of duvatyne will prevent any light coming in and reflecting off 4x4 filters

That's correct, the series 9 filter back has several functions. It can hold a series 9 filter, or multiples if you get more retaining rings. It will also work as a donut. It has a 80mm opening which is standard cinema lens size. For smaller lenses you'll want to get step up rings to bump them up to 80-82mm.

I'm sad to see this one go but I too have upgraded to the Redrock MMB and no longer need this. Just looking for the right home for it now...
