Arri 650w Fresnel cuts our while focusing

Hey all, i wonder if anyone has had trouble with the Arri 650 cutting in and out while focusing.

I've tried to reseat the lamp a few times. The light works fine except for when i focus from spot to flood. About 3/4ths of the way, it cuts out, but then cuts back in as i push it all the way to flood.

I tried watching it slide (turned off) and it seems to hang up a little bit, like the lamp sliding forward and backward seems to get caught for a moment right around there.

Just got it today, i wonder if i need to send it back. If anyone has run across this problem and has a fix, i'm all ears! (eyes)
 
In my experience the fail point is where the cord is attached to the housing - after enough times the wires inside break but since technically the wire is still touching another wire sometimes you see light and sometimes you don't.
 
You really ought to retire that fixture until you suss it out. A loose connection in a metal can with moving parts is at best a recipe for blown breakers. At worst, it's much worse!
