Arrested Development film?

Apparently there might be an Arrested Development film (http://imdb.com/title/tt0901469/). I was a HUGE fan of that show and I could never really understand how such an amazingly inventive piece of comedy could be canceled so shortly after it was born. The movie will be written and directed by the shows' original writers and directors, and the cast will be the same. I really hope this goes ahead and that they can capture the magic of the show. And I sure hope I won't come out of the theater and say "I've made a huge mistake" ;-)

It kills me there's only 2.5 season of the show, wish they got to at least 5 seasons.

A movie would be great but it'd have to be a non-theatrical straight to showtime type deal. If they did a theatrical they'd shoot it differently which would lose half the appeal and kinda change everything.

I know exactly what you mean. Sort of what they did with The Simpsons movie. The typical commercial story arch.

No more so the actual 'reality' tv type shooting style that Arrested Development uses. I can see them getting a budget then shooting it more traditionaly which just wouldn't work with the great comedic timing in the show.

Oh god, I hadn't thought of that. I really hope they don't go this way. The way it was shot was a big part of the shows' charm.

I bet they nail it. I hope so. Cannot wait to catch up with the Bluth family again. Cannot wait.

Will Arnett was on Conan a little while ago and basically confirmed they were going for it.

I think I watch this show all the way through at least every two months.

The very last episode, after they KNEW they were cancelled... told you that they wanted to do this... Ron Howard's final narration should have tipped you off.

I'm a HUGE HUGE fan of this show... I've bought the entire DVD collection TWICE... I was on a gig out of town for five weeks and I found a local best buy on week 2... and figured out how to better enjoy my off-time. There's never been a funnier show written for television. I've thought about writing a fan letter to Mitch Hurwitz... just to praise his brain.

I'd love to see an AD feature. The only fear would be that they couldn't do a feature that was as clever as the weekly show... I would guess that there was a lot of percolating ideas and conversations back and forth with writers... and maybe that special broth would be hard to duplicate again, under different circumstances. If you watch the exact same episode 3 or 4 times you'll get brand new jokes in each viewing.

As much as I'd absolutely love an AD feature I'd proffer the show got back on the air. Who knows, if the movie scores big at the box office it might happen.

Will Arnett is so busy now, I don't think they could get him on a regular series again. Funny, because while he was always begging for work in the AD BTS stuff, he must've been lining up years worth of gigs during the final season.

I find it really hard to believe that Hurwitz-Howard will allow anything less than a homerun script to go into production.

Come on!

They can't even discuss the concept of a feature without being hilarious. Holy crap, I hope this happens.

You can always hang with Clark and Michael if you need a short-term fix.

I really hope they make this film.

I just started watching AD and I'm in that television series bliss at the moment.

I started 3 days ago and I've watched the whole first season.

This show would have been better recieved if it was on HBO. I don't think Fox gave it the type of attention it needed.

the only bad part about this show was that Fox shafted it in scheduling.

I have watched it more times than I should be allowed and I still find new jokes each time.

I hope they keep the bleeps in the film I think it sounds funnier than un-edited. It's the best show ever made. I know the cast won't do a movie if the script doesn't match or exceed the tv show.

Tobias-"I'm afraid I prematurely shot my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run..if you will. so now I have something of a mess on my hands."
Michael-"there's just so many poorly chosen words in that sentence."

Anybody know of any other TV shows/movies that are similar to the humor of Arrested Development?

I watched the entire series in under a week and now I almost feel depressed without those characters.
