I film various events every month with my two HMC150s. Once recently developed a fault (luckily its still usable) and it really put the wind up me in regards to dealing with a breakdown on the night and being without a camera while its away for repair. I always bring my SD9 but the low-light performance is really dire even with a light it would be hard-pressed to cut it with a HMC150 without noticing a dramatic difference.

Anyway, just bought an ebay hmc40 for a fairly good price, I know the low-light isnt up to the HMC's standard but am confident it could pull it off in an emergency. It will stay in the bag with a card and battery installed ready to go. When the situation calls for it of course I can also mount on a tripod for an extra angle. Peace of mind comes at a price but its worth it IMO.

Good thinking but how big's your gadget bag? For weddings I sometimes squeeze in a palmcorder size back-up cam, anything bigger is a problem. I heard on another forum a guy who uses 2x XHA1s and a 7D plus glidecam and all on his own, he must have a suitcase on wheels.

I would pull out the GH1 for backup... with a prime lens or 2 I can pull plenty of light and it mixes well with the 150's.

I usually do 2 camera jobs. I use two camera bags, (medium size) which hold cameras, batteries, auido stuff, etc. Also one tripod bag into which I cram my 2 monopods and Gliderack. Carry the tripod seperately. It is a pain lugging all this stuff about. The HMC40 is smaller than my 150's so hopefully with a bit of re-arranging I wont have to employ another case.
