I played with this camera at the Apple store and was quite impressed but was curious as too how you all are getting your footage into the NLE. Are you using the FireStore or tape or both at the same time. Also, when you shoot in DV mode am I to understand that this is downconverted HD? Considering it has to use the same chips to shoot on would it be technically accurate to say this is downconverted HD (or downconverted HDV)?

For the Z1e I am using the tapes. No experiences with dropouts yet! (knock on wood)
Seems to be working without any problems. I think yes, the footage is downconverted HD. I shot with the pd150/170 for a long time, and the Z1 DV-mode looks a bit different. I mean, when switching to the DV-mode, the chip will use the same pixels any way, so it should be a down conversion.
 
I shoot on tape, no problems yet, strictly sony HD tapes, anything else will be messed up. Im interested in trying a drive but hear that fcp dosnt like the timecode sometimes.
