something someone said a few jumps back in the thread really bugged the **** out of me...about girls/ladies not posting because they're afraid of being stalked. my blood pressure immediately peaked--and not because i disagree or doubt the possibility. in fact it wouldn't surprise me at all. men are scary. they want things. they want things from women and they don't like hearing 'no.' instead they imagine 'yes.' they imagine 'yes' so much that even when an actual woman actually says 'no' they somehow make themselves believe it's still 'yes.' can you imagine what it's like for a woman to deal with this? and men are always elbowing each other, winking at each other about women. even the lowliest most scurrilous male can take heart that at least he's not a woman--because some other guy somewhere is going to say "i'm with you, dude." i can't tell you how much this "fraternizing" spells doom for so much intimacy that could otherwise be had--if only men would understand how women can be both devoted to them in love and in need of respect--and that needing respect does not equal abandonment.
as a disclaimer, i am not personally aiming this rant at anyone in particular here at this site. while i think it's a shame more women do not cavort here, i don't think it's because we users here are rude or whatnot. i just needed to get some thoughts off my chest.

Well... from some women I know who have absolutely no reason to lie or pretend anything, at least to me, women are equally guilty. Except they know better how to hide it.
I think main reason why there are not that many women here is that they have better things to do with their lives than stare at a computer screen for hours, talking to strangers . Their lives are usually busier, especially if they have kids. This is reality, whether you like it or not. I doubt stalking is a major factor here. But I am a guy, so who am I to say...?
What a perfect lead-in... my sixteen year old daughter was up at the library the other night and was on Yahoo IM. She should know to set her preferences so that "just anybody" cant converse with her, but she didnt. Anyhoo, this guy walked behind her, stood long enough to see her screen name and proceeded to log onto another machine and start sending her messages about how she looked and what he wanted to do to her. She freaked out, logged off and came home. She just wanted out of there and didnt stop to consider she might ought to tell one of the librarians or something. So, she is staying home for computer use these days.
Hmmm, this almost sounds like I stand corrected. I am glad no harm happened to your daughter, Terri.
So - to defend the man kind... :
There are at least two current high profile cases in the US with female teachers raping 13 year old boys. Another woman is serving 8 years for doing the same.
I am sure that men are more aggressive and bad stuff is more often perpetrated by them, but as I said, some of my female friends tell me it's not all clear on the X-side of the aisle. Apparently female sex predators abound... their methods are more subtle and sophisticated, and we men are stupid enough that we mistake being a sex predator victim for getting laid.
How, Jerry, have you taken a thread titled "Are there any girls here?", and moved it to a discussion about "female teachers raping....., and female sex predators.....?
Now, let's lighten up this gloom, with a nice, colourfull picture.....
