Are the HVXs always double-boxed?

The outer box says Ag-hvx200PJ. It has a cutout showing the SN of an inner cardboard shipping box. When I opened the outer box, I see the inner cardboard box looks almost exactly the same except it has on it "Ag-hvx200p.

This was from an authorized dealer.

Why the different model numbers? BTW, my serial number ends with PJ.

I received mine and it came the same way it was OK. Just try registering it on the Panasonic site it if goes you got the real deal.

Thanks, Jeff and Arrow - and with Japanese writing along with the English on the sticker on the viewfinder (sun warning)? And your SN on cam ended with P?

I can't believe I have to wait for Panasonic to send me the book. I've got the battery charging now... Gee, I feel like a kid at Christmas.
 
That freaked me out as well. I picked up the box to save the UPC and it was missing, and then there was the "JP". Then I found the actual box and all was well. I just figure its an extra precaution for padding sake.
 
I get most of my stuff from B&H and they double, triple, and I've heard from a friend occasionally quadruple box it. I like that.
