Are rumour release dates usually accurate?

I have no history with Panasonic releases, so is it most probably that the Q4 is really when it will ship, or are Panasonic likely to spring it on us in a month or so?

Trying to weigh up the choice of purchasing a DVX or waiting.

The only thing I can compare it to is the DVX. Panasonic promised "4Q" delivery, then later in the summer they announced a date: October 10, 2002. Then it actually arrived in stores on October 7th.

So right now I'd say 4Q is all you can hope for, and that could mean December 31 as easily as it could mean October 1st. I'm sure as they get closer, they'll announce an actual date.
