Are past Vegas licenses dead once you upgrade?

Besides owning Vegas Pro, which was an upgrade from an earlier Pro version...

I also have Movie Studio "Platinum 11", which was an upgrade from Platinum 10.

By upgrading to 11, is 10 active or is the very act of upgrading (usually at a discount) renders it a dead license?

I was wondering if I could do a license transfer and give it to somebody.

With Vegas you can check through your online account. Any program you own will have its serial number listed. The account will tell you if any of your programs are registered to any particular computer. You can deactivate any version from any PC so that you can use it on another PC. In short if you own a particular program with a serial number no it is not dead once you upgrade. One on of my boxes I currently have v8, v11, v12, v13, v14 and v15 loaded and all currently running for various reasons. All are registered with no issues.

You can login below. If you don't have an account use the "I don´t have a login and want to sign in." and create one.

Good luck.

I went into my account the other day, making sure I can get my software at the Magix website, and I saw that Vegas 4 pro was still listed. I went ahead and downloaded it. To my surprise it started right up in windows7 64bit. It may have been pure nostalgia, but I really enjoying editing with that version again. I may go back to it:-P
