i Have Two Questions, First I Have A Laptop With Vegas 6 Dual Core Processors And 2 Gigs Of Ram But I Keep On Hearing From People That I Should Change My Ram Settings, Right Now They Are:

virtual Memory:

*system Managed Size

total Paging File Size For All Drives:
minimum Allowed:2mb
recommended: 2289mb
curretnly Allocated: 1526mb

is This Right?

my Next Question Is That I Keep On Dropping Frames Very Time I Capture, Is This Because Of The Ram Settings, My Laptop Is Used Just For Editing I Have All Other Processes Turned Off But I Still Drop Frames....damn!!!!

help Guys And Thanks Like Always

Hi! Id look into putting this into the Vegas thread. Im not sure about your RAM issue, sounds like you have more than enough for editing.

But the drop frames could be several things like the camera itself, dirty head, dirty tape, the cable. Check each part by switching them around with others if you can to try and spot the problem. Good Luck!

Are you using any kind of smart preview settings? You might try starting with turning off the audio preview when you capture (if you haven't already). That might take care of it.

Set your Paging File at a static size and on a seperate hard drive than your main system drive (often C:). The recommended size is usually 1.5 times the amount of RAM, but I set it for 1:1 on my system, which has 1GB of RAM.

As for your dropped frames, I would suggest disabling as many programs and services on your computer as possible, especially Anti-Virus apps.

The RAM preview setting has nothing to do with playback or editing. They only control how much RAM you'll allow for a RAM prerender.
