Are Anamorphic & wide angle lenses attachnets the solution?

I have 1 question:

  • Will either anamorphic adapters and lenses or wide angle attachments (16x9 inc. or Century) help with the crop factor of the AF-100?
The goal for me is to get that cinematic 2:35 look.

Nope.

First of all, it's 2:39 or called 2:40.

Second of all... anamorphic equipment is expensive but even more rare.

Old anamorphics are 2x squeeze... That works if you're shooting 4:3... but since the AF100 will be HD, even older anamorphic lenses and those low quality anamorphic projection lens setups you see around will not work ideally. In fact it would require cropping of the other direction or a non-2.40:1 ratio. HD is 1.77:1 thus doubling it would be to much. The DVX100 anamorphic attachment is another option, although designed for 16:9 (1.77) fit into a 4:3 imager (1.33)... but I found it flawed with quality issues.

I think it would actually be more easy and cheap to find anamorphic solutions if the AF100 was 4:3 native.

Unless you have the new Hawk Anamorphic V-lite 1.3x lenses for 16:9 sensors, you're kinda stuck with compromises and/or horrible quality work arounds... which is the most probably case considering the 1.3x are SUPER expensive and very hard to get.

Currently the best solution, for me, has been to shoot at high resolution and crop in post, such as '4.5k wide' RedOne MX. With that said, I've shot many things on HD 1080 with a 2.39 crop, and it was just fine. I'd only worry about the lost resolution if I were releasing on the big screen or had to abide by some ridiculous content standards, in which case, I'd probably just shoot 16x9 anyhow (discovery channel, etc)
