Archiving in the HDV world?

Just curious... I was 5 seconds away from slapping my money down for an HVX when the issue of archiving came along. Backing up on hard drives is way too expensive an option for me right now.

In the JVC/Canon world, you can simply record your project back to tape, right?

Yes. The JVC allows for a reverse transfer of information from a device to the JVC via Firewire for archival purposes. Remember though, this puts extrta wear and tear on your camera heads which is why we use the BR 50s.

I would most certainly get deck if I bought a JVC. It seems like the cost of a JVC (with a deck) is about equal to an HVX with 2 8GB cards.
