Just to clarify for the original poster, it is still HD on the disc - the quality isn't degraded. You just won't be able to put it in any home video player and view the files on a TV. You'd be using the burnable DVD simply as a storage medium for the data, which you could then bring back into your computer in the future for editing purposes, etc.ChuckS said:You can copy HD "Data" files to a DVD for archiving. It is not "HD" just HD files.
I don't think it's going to be that accessible by December, but it's certainly coming. I think that's the best choice for archival the HVX has; I hope that it gets here sooner than later too!luke43 said:or to blu ray disk. It should be available by the time hvx200 comes out

Well the tradeoff with P2 is that the time is spent archiving instead of capturing. There's a big difference though, because that time is then moved to the back of your project instead of the front. You can get working on your footage right away, saving you delivery hours - and as you pointed out, time is money.Geno said:Isn't that very labor intensive to burn all those dvd's rather than just copying to a hard drive? I know there not MPEG and need encoding, and just the raw files but it seems like a lot of time, and time is $$$.
Apparently Pioneer is already making the BRD-101A available in Asia... it's a standard 5 1/2" drive that fits into your desktop computer. It records to Blu-Ray and DVD+/-R media, but won't read or write CD-R/W discs.Knock Out Films said:Will the burner just slide into my computer or will it be only stand alone in the begining?
