Aputure is shipping their new microphone: "Aputure Deity" (meant to be a competitor

I have a 416. I find myself filming in noisy environments all the time. My feeling at the time was it was one of the best options for isolating the interview from background sound. Is there a more modern mic that does this equally well or better at that? I know this may sound crazy, but the Sanken CS3e is a little too long to fit in my camera bag the way it's packed now. And I'm maxing out what I can put in the bag and still get it under an airplane seat (an absolute must for me). So I'm looking for less than 10".

My choice would be a Schoeps CMC641 Supercardioid with Rycote Baby Ball Gag or INV-7 and a furry.

I don't have any experience with th BBG. I normally use a Schoeps B5D foam pop filter and add a Rode Dead Kitty as the wind increases.

My vlog got fancy, latest one was shot on a Panasonic EVA1, but also I was using that day the Aputure Deity (which just for this, I ran straight into the Panasonic EVA1. Although of course I otherwise normally always use it with my F4):

(footage is in vlog.... for a vlog, ha! Yes, is an amusing pun I just realised this second)

I'm torn between the lure of low prices and the concern that it is all just a race to the bottom. Like, $1.75 an hour wages bottom.

And we are possibly only shooting ourselves, or our kids, in the foot when we buy this stuff.
I think that is nonsense, innovation gives us better products for lower prices all driven by compettition, it called healthy capitalism!

I'm a big fan of low cost, decent sounding audio gear. The Oscar SoundTech lavs, the AT-875r, Røde Video Wireless, etc. I am going to get a hold of Deity to give this mic a shot and to write about it. Stay tuned.
