Aputure buys Prolycht!

After 2 days having the ipod on a cstand is part of essentical production kit. Having Joe (less than 30 years) to drive the app is awesom.

Sidus wants a log in even if you have no internet in the woods.. dumb. Joe makes a hotspot in seconds from his phone but he understands that stuff. Id be lost and my phone lives on charge on the 'camera table' because I read the bit of the call sheet that says no phones on set.

I've been accustomed to seeing the lighting iPad worn on a holster or via neckstrap/sling for a number of years now, especially with the younger crowd. Would think especially so given running about in the woods vs a c-stand!

"No phones on set"--I haven't heard about that one in a while. So many things on set have to be managed via phone, it's critical communication for a number of people (AD's, best boys) and technical control for camera, lighting, sound. I know there are some big productions that ban them but they have the luxury of time. On a smaller job it hurts critical efficiency to ban outright. Are people really observing that rule on your show, or is it just on the call sheet as a placeholder?

The big names and plot are not in the public domain.

There are a million phones on set. One thing is they get people to be quiet in takes!

Really mine is on the table because I spend most of my time rolling in the dirt. I might have to cave in and buy a Dirty Rigger 'bra' (chest mount)

The ipad could be on a strap indeed. But as we are doing five jobs each Joe needs to be unemcumbered and the cstand works.
On my last feature with a gaffer and five odd sparks the 'best boy' (?) basically did the ipad (with strap) and bossed the other kidoes via his walke.
As it happens on that feature the director nailed me for taking a phone pic and I said to him.. 'fair point sir'
Its tricky becuae they are good for continuity and other notes and also capture interesting history.

ive just done a day with my 600 in foul weather.

head was unexposed box was under a plsti 'skirt'

the light functioned well for hours

if it has not died overnight I will be very impressed.

My 600 did a full 5 hour shift in the rain with flying colours and restarted the next morning.

So full stars..

Just be careful with the power cord. One of my guys tripped over one a few weeks ago and ripped the PowerCon connector out of the bottom of the ballast chassis. Wires are still connected and intact and it still works, but... She broke. And my local Barbizan said they can't do anything because Aputure is making customers contact them directly, now, even though they did a warranty repair for me last year on it.
