Applying edits to a single piece of media

How do you apply the cuts in your timeline to a single piece of media, ie when you play back in a grade master and put the original cuts as add edits onto it. I know there's a way but I cant remember

Add Edit. You may need to map it to your keyboard (it used to be default mapped to H, but in newer versions of Avid it's not mapped to the keyboard).

There is a way of copying a whole video layers cuts to another layer.....honest!!

I have found the answer. Put PAn&Scan effect on the piece of media you want to add the edits to. Go into effects editor (make sure you also have the video track highlighted that you want to take the edit information from) and hit sub divide. This will put add edits on your new piece of media. Then lassoo the track and delete the effect.
