Apple unveils Final Cut Studio 2

I use FCP, so I'm not biased against it. I still say, however, that up until at least FCP 5, it's not better - and perhaps slightly worse than Vegas. Of course it's a hard comparison, since they have different strenghts, but for example I prefer the sound editing in Vegas by about 10000%. And - surprise surprise with Apple supposed to be the usability guru - I think Vegas is easier and more intuitive.

That said, I'll have to check out FCP 6 - it may now take a lead over Vegas. My big fear for Vegas has always been Sony - Sony is a POS company when it comes to giving the consumers what they want and need. I was extremely unhappy when Sony took over. And now I'm afraid that Sony is too slow moving to match Apple wrt FCP/Vegas. They need to put a lot more resources into Vegas... not just for Vegas users sake, but for FCP users as well... the consumer wins when there's competition. Vegas needs to stay in the race!!!

Anyone have any thoughts on how FCP 6 will impact Vegas development, or how they compare now with FCP 6 out?

you knwo actually they havent ruined vegas yet. infact i like the newer versions. I like the fact that users can write scripts for it, and make their own plugins. (Vasst stuff for example, "double take is a godsend on vegas 5) Thats a great open source like feature vegas has. im not sure if FCP has that ability, as i hardly use it. though the one or two times i did use i liekd it alot. i just can never get a grasp on what the bins do, and why i cant watch realtime footage. not knocking it, i just couldnt figure out wha they do or how to get realtime footage to play back.
