I'm not sure anyone will agree with this opinion, but for what/how I edit now, my interface is diminishingly important because most of the work happens in my imagination. The creative choices of what/how to do the edit are the most important and time-consuming. And the more time I spend thinking and the less time I spend tapping on the keyboard, the faster the edit goes (assuming that I did a thorough job reviewing/logging footage, which is the main reason I can cut so much faster than I used to.) Making a wrong turn can waste so much time.
For grading/compositing/animating, it's great great to have a better interface and more screen real estate. But I could personally do 90% of my editing on a 13" screen or a plane without a problem. Of course, everyone has different types of projects
