GH2 aperture priority and auto-iso on GH2 - what exactly is happening?

I'm shooting an event with changing lighting conditions. After sorting through advice and experimenting with how to set up an unattended GH2, it seems like my best option is to use aperture priority and auto-iso. When the aperture changes in shutter priority, it's a lot more noticeable than when the shutter speed and ISO change in aperture priority. My concern is that I can't figure out how much the shutter speed is likely to change. I can limit the ISO but I can't control how the shutter speed changes at all. Is there a way to access metadata on shutter speed and ISO? I'm shooting a cabaret performance in 24p and there will be changes in stage lighting and the performer will be moving/dancing around a bit.

Wish there were a way to just set auto-ISO in manual mode... sigh.

Thanks!

I do unmanned camera's in shutter priority mode (1/50 for 24p and 1/125 for 720p@60fps) to good effect. Set to auto iso with a limit of 800 or 1600 if you need to push it. If you use apature mode I would think the motion is going to be too blurred or choppy.

You really don't want to be allowing the camera to change the shutter speed from the normal 180 degree shutter.

What lens(es) are you using? When I use shutter priority, the brightness changes in steps as the aperture changes, presumably because the iris changes in discrete steps. Doesn't happen in aperture priority mode...

I don't mind minor changes. I don't notice much difference in motion blur within a 10-15% range. I'd love to know a way to see how much the shutter is changing, either while I'm shooting or by looking at metadata from the footage.

This may be the difference. I am using all native m43 lens with step-less apertures: the 14-140mm kit, 14mm and 20mm pancakes from Panasonic.

I think the 14-140mm is the only one with a stepless aperture.

I really doubt that the camera shoots anything but wide open indoors with one of the smaller aperture zoom lenses. You can use shutter priority mode with the 14-140mm without any issues. I would use aperture priority with the 20mm though. Just set it to F2.0-F2.5 where it is sharpest and I doubt the shutter speed will go much over 1/80th-1/100th indoors. It is not perfect but I doubt you will notice it.

So I guess there's no way to set shutter and aperature and let auto iso do it's thing? I've found myself using the aperature priority mode a few times recently out of sheer necessity.

How do you guys normally set your exposure (over, under)?

I've now tried all of my lenses in shutter priority mode , including the 14-140 and 20mm Lumix lenses, and they all adjust the exposure in steps. It's very noticeable. I have the latest firmware for the lenses. Is anyone else seeing the same thing?
