Aperture Controls

So I purchased a new a7s and was hoping to use primarily my Canon glass on it. I purchased two adapters, the fotodiox ND one and the Metabones.

The fotodiox is cool and I will likely hold onto it for some run and gun situations outside. However the Metabones one just doesn't seem worth the $400 since the auto focus is pretty much unusable. I do enjoy having the aperture control though.
Does anyone have a good recommendation for aperture control that doesn't cost $400?

Be careful. I have posted about this all over and done a blog post on it. These 'smart' Canon
EF to NEX adapters are a little 'hinky'. I am not sure exactly what it is, but I have owned
3 Sony Emount cams (VG20, FS100, and FS700). I have had 3 adapters, Metabones and
a couple 'knockoffs' the RJ and some other brand. They work fine for awhile and then suddenly
exhibit crazy behavior. They will just randomly change the iris on you. Until finally all
communication with the lens is lost and you get a 'F--' message and cannot control
aperture anymore. And it will hard freeze your camera and even turning it off won't fix
it. You have to remove the battery. This has happened with every single one of my adapters
with every single camera. Good news is this may only be with third party lenses as I do not
own any Canon L glass (I skipped the whole DSLR thing). But it might be worth having a
'spare' adapter around if you do work for paying clients. That way if one does go down, you
have another.

The adapter evolvemedia linked to has been flawless for me (and a lot of other people) (on A7s). I got mine in Sept and haven't had any troubles. I also got a Fotodiox today - seems cool, nice quality ND. Good build quality while still being lighter than most adapters.

I am using an adapter by "viltrox". for me its perfect wit my A7s and a Canon 2,8/70-200mm. It has full aperture control and a very precise but slow autofocus. In APS-C modus its perfect, in fullframe it darken the corners a little bit.
price around 100 Euro
