I want to buy DVXA PAL.
I found this camcorder on www.biz-max.net and they have DVXAE plus 16:9 adapter for 4300$ and DVXAP with 16:9 adapter for 4700.

So what is going on? I live in USA but want to shoot in PAL but now I dont know if what is going on. I thoungt that AP means PAL, but my friend told me that AE is PAL too.

Where can I get the best deal on PAL DVX?

Help.
Thanks.

The AP is the NTSC model. However, I'm sure you heard this before, but shooting PAL in NTSC land is just setting you up for headaches. i understand your reasonings, however, the benefits of shooting NTSC in an NTSC based country far outweigh the downsides. Unless everything you plan to shoot is going directly to film, and even then the difference is neglegable, NTSC is the way to go.

Could you please listen to this...
I want to go with PAL 9DVX100AE living in USA because I have a plan 8)
1) i got editing software plus ntsc/pal monitor
2) i will send my work to european film festivals
3) for american market I will make transfer from pal to ntsc and even if those 20% better resolution of pal image (vertical) will be lost during the transfer to ntsc I still will get "full ntsc" copy for american market
And in the end...
3) if the movie is good enough to be picked up by a distributor during one of the film festivals, it is much better to make a transfer to film from pal than ntsc

Does it make sense? If I am wrong please let me know.

AP is Pacific (NTSC) and AE is Europe (PAL) i think. Sony also calls them "E" at the end over here (VX1000E etc)

that was maybe true back at the interlaced video days, where PAL delivered 25fps and was easier to convert to film than the 29. . . . fps in NTSC. but the NTSC DVX gives you 24 perfect frames per second.. how is the PAL version better now?!

Re: AP and AE? what the hell?.

Well if your planning on sticking with PAL and want to convert some footage to NTSC, you will want to pick up DV filmakers Atlantis software.  Don't do the conversion in your NLE as the results will be noticably worse than your PAL master.  Atlantis is said to do a very good conversion, however, you will never have the same quality in NTSC converting from PAL as opposed to having shot in NTSC. I have also heard that Atlantis is not the fastest program on earth so be prepared for some rendering time.  Again like SHAI said, shooting 24PA will give you 24Frames to work with, no conversion necessary to go to film.  And that additional 20% of resolution really will not give you much difference when blowing up to film, even though it sounds like it should.  It's still the same camera.
