Anywhere you can get cheap C-stands and flags?

I finally learned about the importance of c-stands and flags. It turns out you can not only add light, but remove it! And it makes stuff look amazing! Honestly, this was sadly a bit of a revelation for me.

But now I have to buy some. Maybe 3 stands and 3 flags. Anyone know any cheap places? They don't have to be good quality at all.

"cheap" and c-stand usually don't go together. New ones range around $150 for the ones you want (40" risers, with grip head and arm). You can sometimes find 'em used, but even then they usually go for at least $75. C-stands just don't break, and once you buy 'em there's really no reason to replace 'em, so used ones aren't that common.

Plus, they're EXPEN$IVE to ship!

Now, with that said, occasionally you can snare new ones from amvona.com on their ebay auctions. I've never seen an Amvona and cannot speak to their quality, but others here on the board have said they're happy with 'em.

As for flags -- the cheapest flag is a sheet of black foam core...

Incredibly informative as usual, Barry. Thanks for the advice. Amvona is about 30 miles from my house...I wonder if they'll do in store pick up. Good call on the foam core, I was actually considering that but didn't know if it was pursuing.

Using professional lighting equipment sure is addictive, but wow is it expensive. Well, at least I can afford the C47s! (New term I just learned...)
