Anyway to shoot VFR on Sony A7s?

I know it shoots slow motion, but can it shoot inbetween frame rates?

36fps, 44, 48, etc.?

VFR like on the AF100 / GH4 is a very important feature to me, however I am ready to move on from M4/3

Thank you!

Any idea why Sony just doesn't seem to offer this anywhere in their lineup except the very top end? Only Panasonic seems to have this as standard :/

Possible we will see this soon or is there some sort of patent issue here? Or are there any firmware hacks to enable this?

I think it's just a differenciation issue. As you said, only Panasonic has it. Sony and Canon reserve it for much more expensive cameras, Nikon doesn't seem interested.

I just wanted to loop back around to this. Has anyone found anyway - hacks or additional hardware included - to shoot VFR style footage using the Sony A7 series cameras? 36, 48, 72. Wanting slow motion, but not as extreme as 120fps, and want proper motion blur maintained (VS shooting at 120fps and then speeding up 250% or something, which makes it look janky).
