Anything Besides YouTube or Vimeo

All,

I have a 17 minute short called The Woods and I'm trying to find a place where I can upload the video.

The movie is too long for YouTube, besides I don't feel comfortable with YouTube's level of image quality.

I like the hi-def of Vimeo, but my file is too large (895 megabytes compressed with H.264 codec). Vimeo's limit is 500 megabytes per week.

So, I'm hoping that someone can direct me to a site where my movie will fit, and also playback in high quality.

Thank you so much,

Trey

I would recompress at 3800 kbps for video and 96kbps for audio (use AAC HE if your encoder supports it) to meet the Vimeo limit.
Or you may try blip.tv but they don't have a special support for HD and...

23. Is there a limit on the size of the video I can upload?

You can upload videos up to 1GB in size, but we recommend that you keep uploaded videos to 100 MB or less for a number of reasons. Check out Freevlog and the blip.tv learning center for help with making your videos smaller without sacrificing quality. We can't guarantee that videos over 100 MB will work well for everybody, and very large videos may not transcode to Flash successfully.

UPDATE: A little search brought me on Openfilm:

4. What is the file size limit?

There is none. You can submit videos of any size or runtime. You can upload files up to 2 GB through the standard upload form. If you wish to submit files larger than 2 GB, email us at review@openfilm.com to make a request or simply mail us a DVD. You can also request a private FTP access to upload your videos on the site.

Thank you very much.

I just registered at Open Film.

Hopefully everything works out!

I hear you, my man.

I'm having some hold ups though because my file is 6.7 gigabytes and I'm having to use filezilla to upload my short to openfilm.com.

My estimated time as of now is 38 hours - doesn't seem right to me though. I'm going to go ahead and experiment with some different bit rates to see if I can get my file size down.

Who knows, maybe I'll even end up being to get in on Vimeo. That would be nice. Anyways thanks to each of you for lending me advice.

Trey

Sorry, man. No dice on the AAC HE or 96kbps for audio encoding. I only have AAC and my highest bit rate available is 48 khz.

However I was able to change my audio bit rate to 3800 kbps. It was originally set to automatic if that means anything to you, because it doesn't to me.

I just followed an online article and the video looks great, it's just to big.

By the way, I'm using Compressor 3 with Final Cut Studio 2. I'm pretty happy with my set up, I'm just learning the work arounds though.

Take care,

Trey

Hi Trey (or... Steve?),

I watched your short film, and I find it interesting and well-spiced.

Yet, I have a lot to say about it (both praises and constructive criticism), if you are interested of course.

Wonderful!

Erez,

I couldn't be any more open to your opinion.

Please feel free to let it fly.

Erez,

I'm reposting this message. I'm not sure what happened the first time.

Yes I would love to get some feedback from, and I encourage your honesty.

Try exposureroom.com too. They take huge files with no weekly limits. Fast upload too.
