Anyone watching this plane over LAX?

Watching now. Unfortunately I only have FOX News. The ambulance chasers of the news media.

I'm sure the pilots will land it safely.

There is a live shot of a jet with nose gear problems that has 140 people on it circling around LAX, burning fuel, and waiting to land.

It's live on MSNBC, CNN, and FOX News.

The landing gear stayed on. That's incredible. Is there anyway to reserve a pilot when you fly? That guy's good.

Television images showed the jet circling with the front landing gear turned at a 90-degree angle from its normal position. Those TV images watched by people around the country were also likely watched by passengers on the JetBlue flight; the airline features television sets mounted in the headrests of all its flights, allowing passengers to watch live DirecTV programming in flight.

Thank god for that.

An imminent tradegy turns out wonderfully. And they say No news is the only good news. Wow.

NOw if only Rita wasnt such a *****.

Wow...crisis averted.

I was just thinking about how the news has been off the charts f*cked up lately. Between Katrina, Rita, and this, I was expecting a volcano to erupt sometime this week.

Holly! I go away for an hour, and a drama ensues! That's incredible.

My wife is a private pilot and she once had an accident where the stearable (is that the word?) front wheel on a Cessna 172 got jammed. Fortunately, it was at a 0 degree position, so all that meant was that the plane wouldn't want to turn when she was turning to a taxiway after landing. She ended up in a ditch instead - something like 20 knots speed, no injury. New propeller and new front wheel was covered by insurance.

But THIS! Jammed at 90 degrees on a jet! Whoa! And landing it safely, too... I can't imagine what the pilots and the passengers must have gone through.

That got my heart pounding alright. I flew three times in ten days this month and hated every moment of it. Everytime I get on a plane I make promises to God and everyone else that if I just make it through this one last flight alive...

Then, predictably, and never too long after making these empty promises, I have to go somewhere too far to drive.

Hate flying. Every f-ing minute of it. Nevermind the hassles. Thank God all those people are okay tonight.
